This year’s Tartan Day South has been cancelled

Tartan Day South has been cancelled for 2021.

The family-friendly festival held at the Historic Columbia Speedway in Cayce celebrates Celtic heritage. It was scheduled to begin on March 25 and run through March 28. It was cancelled in 2020, too, due to COVID concerns. Cayce Public Safety officers in feature photo.

The decision was made “after considerable deliberation and with a heavy heart,” according to a release from the event’s organizers.

The release reads: “The decision was not made lightly and only occurred after consulting state and local authorities, previous participants, our sponsors and staff and other key partners. Unfortunately, in the current environment, we do not feel that we can deliver the same outstanding experience everyone has come to know and expect,”

The 10th annual Tartan Day South will be back in 2022, and worth the wait. The event is scheduled for March 31 through April 3, 2022.

Tartan Day South is a four-day festival that is held at the Historic Columbia Speedway in Cayce. The event includes a free movie night, Celtic Commotion Concert, Highland athletics, pipe bands, live Celtic music, a marketplace with vendors, herding demonstrations, sword fighting exhibitions, a British car show and more.
