Parade

There will not be a Parade of Lights this year

The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that the Holiday Parade of Lights will not be made up this coming weekend. There was a hope that the parade could be held after it was cancelled Saturday due to severe weather that moved through the area Saturday evening. After meeting Monday it was determined that the majority of units that would have been in the parade are unavailable this Saturday. A copy of the Chamber’s announcement is below:

City of West Columbia’s 2021 Parade entry

First and foremost, we would like to thank all of you for your understanding and patience as we navigated this past weekend. It was such a difficult decision to cancel the parade on Saturday, but as we now know, the bad weather that moved through proved the cancellation was the safest decision. We took the time this morning to poll our parade registrants, volunteers, and partners. Unfortunately, the majority of our units are unavailable this Saturday. We totally understand this as it is getting closer to Christmas and everyone’s schedules are packed. Together the Chamber staff and public safety decided it would not be feasible to pull this together, especially considering the time our first responders would need to take away from their families. Therefore, we will not move forward rescheduling the 2021 Holiday Parade of Lights. Please know how much we appreciate everyone’s hard work preparing for the parade and the community’s enthusiasm and passion for this event. We especially thank the Cities of West Columbia and Cayce who did everything in their power to support this event and went above and beyond. We look forward to you being a part of the 2022 Holiday Parade of Lights. In the meantime, our Chamber will continue to support our community and #shoplocal throughout the holidays. ❤️
