
The Vacuum Center has reopened at a new location after fire destroyed the business in May
On May 2, The Vacuum Center at 1306 Charleston Highway in West Columbia burned.
After the fire, owners Mike and Peg Wilson said the “store sustained considerable damage and destruction” from the fire, but the plan was to reopen the store.
In the last week, the Vacuum Center has reopened in Granby Village on Charleston Highway, across the street from the former location of the Vacuum Center.
“We looked at several locations,” Mike said. “We looked in Irmo, Columbia and even a place on Sunset Boulevard, but this spot opened and we jumped on it.”
At one time The Vacuum Center was at 542 Knox-Abbott Drive in Cayce. The Vacuum Center stocks several brands of vacuums, including Miele. The business also repairs vacuums and has an inventory of vacuum repair parts, along with vacuum bags, accessories, and central vacuum system sales, parts and installations.
