The Palmetto Experience holds ribbon cutting for river meeting facility, Thursday

The Palmetto Experience held its ribbon cutting Thursday.  The ribbon cutting was sponsored by the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

The facility is on the Saluda River, on Candi Lane off of I-126, beside Riverbanks Zoo.

It’s for group retreats and events to have an all in one shared experience that includes meeting space, waterside recreation activities, transportation, catering and lodging at an all-in-one price.

The Palmetto Experience is designed to over an adventure for groups of 4-up-to 50-plus people. The Palmetto Experience also offers group meeting space, small event space, waterside recreation activities, bus transportation, breakfast/lunch/dinner catering packages, and group lodging packages.

Mayo, who also owns Palmetto Outdoors, conducts tubing trips on the Congaree River from Memorial Day until Labor Day, said he has catered to more than 10,000 tubers. He said 40 percent of his clientele come from out of state. The Palmetto Experience, Mayo said, is an opportunity to offer more exposure for the river.
