Teacher’s aide accused of taping “disruptive” student’s legs, gets arrested

A Columbia woman is accused of taping a Seven Oaks Elementary School 4K student to a classroom chair.

The aide, age 25, is charged with cruelty to children, according to an arrest warrant.

“Based on our investigation, (a) teacher’s aide, used duct tape to tape the student’s legs to a chair Wednesday while the teacher was out of the classroom,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “(The aide) told detectives the student had been moved to the back of the classroom for being disruptive and not listening.”

Deputies arrested the aide Wednesday night at her home. She is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
