Taste on the River has record crowd – Sold out event

Taste on the River has record crowd

Taste on the River had its best turnout ever, Tuesday night at Stone River. It was the fourth annual fundraiser for the West Columbia Beautification Foundation. Cars filled the spaces at the recently completed Carrway Park, across from the Riverwalk. Others parked in the city parking garage that has a Court Avenue entrance at the Brookland complex.

“We sold more tickets than ever,” said Melissa Sprouse-Browne, WCBF chairwoman. “It was a sell out. We sold every ticket we had.”

Close to 300 people visited the food stations set up by 14 of the best restaurants in the West Columbia, Columbia, the Vista, and The River District. There was also a silent auction.

“I saw of lot people here tonight that I did not know,” said Bill Mooneyhan, a member of the WCBF board and a founder of Taste of the River. “It’s good when we are bringing in new people. And it’s good to see those who have supported us for the past three years coming back.”

Proceeds from the event will go toward the planting of trees and other plants throughout the City of West Columbia. The WCBF has overseen several projects to date using funds it collects through its community-building fundraising events.
