It was a night to remember.

It was “A Taste of West Columbia” held Tuesday night at the Stone River facility on the Congaree River in West Columbia. The fundraiser was for the West Columbia Beautification Foundation.

Sponsors were: Estates Co. Brookland Development, Mooneyhans Auto, Nephron Pharmaceutical, Something Borrowed, McGee Reality, CresCom Bank, Burkett and Burkett CPAs, and Gregory Electric.

More than 250 people attended the event including Cayce Mayor Elise Partin and West Columbia Mayor Bobby Horton. More than $10,000 was raised at the event. Music was provided by Bob the Sax Man

“We were overwhelmed with the response,” said Bill Mooneyhan, one of the event sponsors and a volunteer organizer. “We had a great turnout. We’ll be able to do a lot to make West Columbia more beautiful with the money we raised.”
Mooneyhan was already looking ahead. “Next year will bigger and better,” he said.

In addition to the ticket sales, there was a silent auction.

The proceeds from the “Taste” event will go to buying trees, plants and other items to help improve the appearance of the city.
