Cayce is welcoming a new business.

State of the Art Gallery and Pottery Studio, at 2007 State Street, held its grand opening Saturday. Its owners are Valery Smith and Levi Wright. “State of the Art” displays and sells original work from South Carolina artists.

“It’s a wonderful addition to State Street in Cayce’s Art District, said Richard Skipper, president and CEO of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin said she is pleased that the types of businesses on State Street are expanding.

“We are excited for State of the Art to open in the middle of the Cayce Arts District,” said Partin. “The Art for sale from South Carolina artists, along with pottery classes for teens to adults brings such vibrancy to the heart of our city. Folks can enjoy a coffee at Piecewise or good food and drink at Henry’s of Cayce, Southern Essence Distillery or Steel Hands Brewing and take in a class or shop for some great art and jewelry.”
