
South Congaree Town Council votes to remove Mayor Cindy Campbell from presiding over council meetings
The South Congaree town council voted to remove Mayor Cindy Campbell from presiding over council meetings in a 4-1 vote, Tuesday night.
A statement was issued by town council. It reads: “This action was not taken lightly. It was taken because the citizens of the Town of South Congaree elected them to ensure that the town operates professionally, efficiently, and within the scope of authority established under South Carolina law, town ordinances, and the town’s adopted ‘form of government.”
Mayor Pro-Tem Kitty Spires said, according to WLTX-TV, that the mayor Interferes “in town processes with the administrative staff.”
Campbell said: “I want to assure everyone that my dedication to serving South Congaree and advocating for our community remains unwavering. I continue to hold the position of Mayor (until 2029), and my commitment to our town is stronger than ever.”
