South Carolina’s first presidential primary is Saturday, Feb 3. (2024 Presidential Primaries) On its Website, the State Election Commission is reminding everyone of important upcoming dates and deadlines. Voters are urged to mark their calendars and educate themselves on the candidates and issues so they can be ready to have their voices heard. Link to SC Election Commission

You can vote in either Presidential Primary, but you can only vote in one:

  • The Democratic Presidential Primary is on Saturday, February 3.
  • The Republican Presidential Primary is on Saturday, February 24.

South Carolina’s 2024 Democratic primary is Saturday, Feb. 3. Voting precincts will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. If you are in line at 7 p.m. you will be allowed to vote.

Early voting is available until Friday, Feb. 2 at local county voter registration offices from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Candidates listed on Saturday’s Democratic ballot are:

  • President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris
  • Minnesota congressman Dean Phillips
  • Marianne Williamson

How can I register to vote?

Already Registered? Update your voter registration information.

  • If you have moved, make sure you are ready to vote by updating your registration.
  • If you have moved from one county to another, you must register in your new county by the deadline to be eligible to vote.

There are three ways to cast your ballot.

Vote Early

You don’t have to wait until election day to vote, you can vote at any early voting center in your county during the early voting period. Simply bring your Photo ID and vote just like you would at your polling place on election day.

  • The early voting period for the Democratic Presidential Primary starts on Monday, January 22, and ends Friday, February 2.
  • The early voting period for the Republican Presidential Primary starts Monday, February 12, and ends on Thursday, February 22.
  • Early voting centers are open 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. during the early voting periods. Visit scVOTES.gov or contact your county voter registration office to find a list of early voting locations.

Vote Absentee

Consider voting absentee if you are unable to vote in person. Qualified voters can vote absentee by mail. Get your absentee application at scVOTES.gov or contact your county voter registration office. To learn more about absentee voting go to scVOTES.gov or download the Absentee Go-To-Guide.

Vote on Election Day

Bring your Photo ID to your polling place in your precinct. Your precinct and polling place are also listed on your voter registration card, however, your polling place may have changed since the card was issued. Always check your polling place at scVOTES.gov before leaving to vote.
