Emergency personnel from the West Columbia Fire Department and West Columbia Police were called  to Sunset Boulevard Monday afternoon Heavy rains flooded a portion of Sunset Boulevard, at 12th Street. A driver (in photo) went into the water, and the car stalled. Crews were working to pull the car out of the water. The east bound lane of the street had to be closed. As the water subsided the roadway was reopened.

The forecast for Tuesday is for showers and thunderstorms, possibly strong with gusty winds and heavy rain at times.  The skies will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and  thunderstorms, Tuesday night. The rain chance is 70 percent.  Wednesday the forecast is for mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms into the evening hours. Some of the rain could be heavy with gusty winds.
