The Cayce Department of Public Safety responded to a report of shots fired in the 1900 block of State Street. The report was filed at approximately 5:23 p.m.

Officers and investigators on the scene earned that a subject discharged a firearm, five or six times, before fleeing the area, according to a release from Sgt. Evan Antley.

A vehicle that was on State Street at the time was damaged after being struck by gunfire but there were no injuries reported.  It appears that the vehicle that was struck was not the intended target, and investigators are working to determine who or what the intended target was.  Officers and Investigators have cleared the immediate scene, but this is an active ongoing investigation.  Further information will be released when available and appropriate.
