Serious injuries, felony DUI result of crash in Cayce Thursday night
Several onlookers came out after a crash occurred in Cayce Thursday night. The collision happened in front of the Neighborhood Market Walmart in Cayce where Knox-Abbott Drive and Charleston Highway meet. Fire crews, EMS and law enforcement were on the scene.
At approximately 9:47 p.m, officers from the Cayce Department of Public Safety responded to a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred in the 1300 block of Knox Abbott Drive.
City of Cayce Spokeswoman Ashley Hunter reported on the accident Friday mooring in a press release.
The suspect charged in the collison is Bradford Tyrone Makins. It is believed his vehicle crossed the center line causing a head-on collision with the victims’ vehicle. Two adults and three children from the victims’ vehicle were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect that caused the collision was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witness statements and evidence show that the suspect vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed in excess of the posted 35 mph limit.
Bradford Tyrone Makins, age 26, was arrested for two counts of Felony Driving Under the Influence involving great bodily injury. Makins has prior alcohol violations. Once Mr. Makins is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Lexington County Detention Center for a formal bond hearing.
