SCDOT continues preparation activities for the winter storm. Current forecasts show predictions from 1
to 3 inches of snow expected in the Midlands. Predictions are from 4 to 6 inches of snow in the Upstate.
Other areas of the state may see a wintery mix without significant accumulation.
Lexington County is in District 1. At 4 p.m. District 1 had light rain with temps in the mid-40s.
235 people are making final equipment and material preparations for storm response tonight and Saturday. 12-hour shifts will begin at various times in each county, with the first shift beginning at 8 p.m. tonight.
The District Office is working normal hours today and will begin a 12-hour shift at 8 p.m. tonight, and will be staffed throughout the event.
Secretary of Transportation, Christy A. Hall encourages the public to monitor the weather forecast

Statewide: SCDOT Crews have completed preparation of snow and ice removal equipment and have commenced pre-treatment of interstates, primaries and critical areas where appropriate due to the projected forecast. Areas where the event is predicted to begin as a rain event will pre-treat during the transition of the rain to snow. All upstate counties have gone to shift work this morning with the midlands counties beginning shift work this afternoon or this evening. Eight crews from District 6 have been deployed to the upstate to assist with winter weather operations. SCDOT has the following snow removal and deicing equipment units deployed each shift on the following interstates.
The SCDOT Customer Service Center will begin operations at 8:30 a.m. and will be staffed

The State Traffic Management Center is operational.
The Director of Maintenance has coordinated the delivery of more than 2000 tons of salt from the up-
state and central salt domes to upstate SCDOT facilities.
