One of the most anticipated projects in West Columbia is scheduled to come to fruition in October 2020, and it’s featured in the West Columbia Newsletter.

Savage Craft Ale Works will be housed in several renovated historic structures, including the former West Columbia (1925) City Hall and Fire Station, at 430 Center Street.

The project ties into West Columbia’s new Interactive Art Park on Meeting Street. In the Old City Hall/Fire House. The fire engine bays and side windows have been reopened and the floors have been redone.

The existing two-story, 3,000 square-foot structure is being converted into a taproom on the ground floor in the space of the former fire station. The former city hall space on the second floor will be restored and used for private dining and meeting space.

A new 5,000 square-foot addition off the back of the building will provide additional room for the microbrewery vats and a rooftop terrace. The terrace will overlook a beer garden, fire pit, and sound stage for outdoor music.

The project includes the renovation of the 1908 historic New Brookland Jail. The former jail will serve as the kitchen for Savage Craft Ale Works.
