Lexington High School has hired Robert Wells as its next head boys basketball coach. Wells has been the head basketball coach at Brookland-Cayce High School for the last 13 years. The Lexington One School Board approved Wells’ hiring Tuesday.

Wells is taking the place of Elliott Pope who left LHS after six seasons. His LHS team won the 2024 5A state championship. Pope took a job on the staff at Gray Collegiate Academy in West Columbia.

Wells is a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. His BC team won a region title and went to the 3A Lower State finals in 2017. Wells was also an assistant football coach. LHS Graphic
