Riverbanks Zoo announces names of newest lion cubs
The names of the two newest lion cubs at Riverbanks Zoo were announced Monday morning on the zoo’s Facebook page. The cubs were born in October to mother Lindelani, and father, Zuri.
The cubs have been named Cleopatra, and Suki, according to the zoo.
“These sisters have already begun to live up to their names. Cleopatra, means father’s glory, she looks and acts like her father, Zuri; a mellow feline. Hasira, which means ferocious in Swahili, is a feisty and strong feline; who often steals food from mom. Welcome to the Riverbanks Pride, Hasira and Cleopatra!”
More than 5,500 votes were cast for the naming of the cubs on the zoo’s website. There were three name options listed for each cub. The voting ended Sunday.
