Rhythm on the River kicks off with St. Patrick’s on the River, March 21
There is no more sure sign of spring than the beginning of the Rhythm on the River Concert Series at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater.
“Everything in the world is turning green,” said West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles. “It’s time to wake up for spring.” “Rhythm on the River is a keystone live arts event for West Columbia,” he said. “This is year 16. Rhythm on the River brings folks out to see what West Columbia has going on.”
In 2020, the first date of the concert season includes the inaugural St. Patrick’s on the River. It’s a totally free event.
“This year we will be starting on March 21 with St. Patrick’s on the River, the Midlands Family-Friendly St Pat’s Festival,” said Richard Skipper, President and CEO of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Bands will run from Noon to 6 p.m. and we will also have plenty of family activities throughout the day.”
The Get Right Band is the headliner and opens the line-up of bands at noon. Alex Whalen plays next at 2:15 p.m. Perlino plays at 3:15 p.m. and Blues Deluxe Band is the finale at 4:15 p.m.
Miles noted that there is additional free parking for Rhythm on the River this just across the street from the Riverwalk Amphitheater, in the recently completed Carraway Park lot.
Other recently-added free parking is at the city’s parking garage off of Court Ave in the Brookland Development, and the lot at the Interactive Art Park, behind Terra, at 425 Meeting Street.
If you don’t want to drive, the Soda Cap Connector, part of The COMET Transit System, will stop at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater.
After St. Patrick’s on the River, the regular Rhythm on the River schedule opens on March 28. It’s from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Riverwalk Amphitheater and features Ashes of Old Ways.

Radio Cult makes a return ROR appearance on April 4. Wombat Junction opens the show. On April 11, Josh Robert’s and the Hinges is the featured band and on April 18, Kenny George Band plays after Alex Whalen opens.
There will be a special Friday (April 24) Rhythm on the River concert as a part of West of the River Weekend festivities.
