Rev. Kenneth Taylor is the newly appointed Presiding Elder of the Edisto District of the South Carolina Annual Conference of the AME Church, that includes Mother Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, the Mother Conference of African Methodism in the state. He is presiding over 34 churches.

His departure as pastor from West Columbia’s Turner Memorial AME Church ends years of service to the West Columbia community where he oversaw feeding programs, home repair initiatives, and recovery efforts. Taylor serves on many board and commissions.

Taylor, known for his the melodious voice, was born in Eastover and graduated from the University of South Carolina.
