Repair of the West Columbia Riverwalk to begin July 14, after FEMA approves contract

FEMA has recently approved the repair contract for the West Columbia Riverwalk that was damaged by Hurricane Helene. With the contract approved by FEMA work can now proceed to fixed the damage portions of the Riverwalk, according to West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles. (Click here)

“The contractor has ordered the materials and is expected to start work on July 14. The section between the amphitheater and Cayce will be done first and is expected to take approximately one month to complete,” Mile wrote in a Facebook post.

“Then the section from the Gervais St Bridge to the trial end will be Done. That work is expected to take approximately month as well. Thank you all for your patience.”

West Columbia City Councilman Mike Green said: “We are working on it. I would say hopefully around September it should be done. We are getting some FEMA money to repair it and it takes a little longer.”
