What to expect: Due to expected weather, the celebration will take place under heated tents to ensure a warm and enjoyable evening for everyone.
Area elementary school “What Christmas Means to Me” essay contest winners will be recognized, and the winning essays or poems will be read.
Student artwork contest winners are featured on the cover of the event program. The top three entries are displayed on the Art on State wall in the Interactive Art Park, 425 Meeting Street.
The program will include Christmas carols, greetings, and the West Columbia Christmas Tree lighting.

The City of West Columbia’s 21st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting is this Friday, December 5, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. on the City Hall Lawn.
Kick off the holidays with an evening filled with music, community spirit, and traditions. Enjoy performances from local schools, a Christmas message, hot chocolate, cookies, and the official lighting of the City’s Christmas tree.
