Reminder and Guide to West Columbia’s Meeting Street Music Fest, Friday, and Saturday, Sept. 6-7

The 2nd Annual Meeting Street Music Fest begins this Friday evening (Sept. 6) and extends into Saturday (Sept. 7) in West Columbia. The times for the Meeting Street Music Fest on Friday are from 6 PM until 9 PM  at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater for the Waterfront Warm-Up. The free, two-day event features 10 sensational bands playing a variety of music genres. Everyone is invited to immerse yourself in live music, enjoy delicious food and beverages, and have a good time.

“The Meeting Street Music Fest is the premier event for West Columbia. I love it,” said West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles. “It attracts a huge crowd and it is a lot of fun for everyone.”

There will also be dance lessons in front of Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor and beverage sales at Chayz Lounge. Many other State Street businesses, including Always Original Baker and Crave restaurant, will be offering specials for the music festival. 

“We expect to have a great day,” said Willie Wells of Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor. “We’re really looking forward to having dancing in the street.”

Chaye Alexander of Chayz Lounge invited all of the music lovers to the parking lot of her club, on Saturday, where there will be beer and wine for sale. “We’re looking forward to seeing everyone,” she said.

Victoria Porter of Savage Craft Ale Works is also anticipating the music festival. “It’s a great community event and it’s really nice for the City of West Columbia to put it on. We welcome everyone to come by Savage Craft.”

Other than music, what else will you find at the Meeting Street Music Fest?

  • You can bring your pets to Whetzel’s Pet Zone, a delightful oasis, where your pet can cool off with refreshing water and relax in the shade.
  • There will be 15 food trucks at the Meeting Street Music Fest, on Friday and Saturday. 
  • Scratch ‘n Spin records will present a Retro Gaming Area featuring classic Atari games and a vinyl-spinning DJ. It’s the perfect place to unwind and relive the good old days.
  • The Meeting Street Artisan Market will be open where you’ll find a delightful array of handcrafted treasures, from unique jewelry and stunning artwork to cozy knitwear by local artisans.
  • Take a break from the music and enjoy two College Football Viewing Zones and catch all the thrilling college football action, in the company of fellow fans in a festive and exciting atmosphere.
  • The WeCo and Band Merch Tents feature t-shirts, coozies, and hats. There will be exclusive band merchandise that lets you show off your festival spirit and pride for your city.

West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater – Friday

Nu-Blu will play FRIDAY NIGHT | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on the Planet Fitness Stage at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, 109 Alexander Road.
North Carolina based Nu-Blu has quickly established themselves as one of the top Acoustic acts in the music industry.

Savage Craft Ale Works Stage – Friday
THE GASPUMPERS will play FRIDAY NIGHT | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM on the Savage Craft Ale Works Stage, 430 Center Street. THE GASPUMPERS  are a cover band based out of Saint Matthews, playing a mix of classic rock, beach music, popular, and country.

Chayz Lounge Stage – Friday

Jamie WRIGHT and ROD Foster and Company will play FRIDAY NIGHT – 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM at Chayz Lounge Stage, 607 Meeting Street ($25 admission)
Songstress Jamie Wright and Rod Foster & Company as they deliver an unforgettable night of soul grooves.
Saturday, Sept. 7, on the KW Beverage Stage at Meeting and Lucas streets

Seventy Six and Sunny will play SATURDAY 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM on the KW Beverage Stage at  Meeting and Lucas streets.
Seventy Six and Sunny  is a band of pop rock hits and upbeat rhythms, with melodic choruses.
Who’s Bad? will play Saturday from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM on the KW Beverage Stage at Meeting and Lucas streets.

 

Who’s Bad, The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience, is a power-packed tribute to Michael Jackson described as a jaw-dropping, musical must-see. It’s the longest-running Michael Jackson tribute band.
WAR will play on Saturday from  6:30 PM – 8:00 PM on the KW Beverage Stage at  Meeting and Lucas streets.

WAR is one of music’s defining and most enduring soul/funk groups. WAr has had a fruitful career with a dynamic sound that fused R&B, rock, Latin music, jazz, and blues. WAR has  more than 20 multi-platinum, platinum and gold albums and singles.

Saturday, Sept. 7, on the Sunset State at Meeting and Shuler streets

Mustache Brothers will play from 3:15 PM – 4:40 PM on the Sunset Stage at Meeting and Shuler streets.
The Mustache Brothers rely on lively acoustic instrumentation and tight vocal harmonies to deliver their unique blend of bluegrass, classic country and rock and roll. The band features  acoustic guitars, a mandolin, and an upright bass.

Brittany Turnipseed will play  from 4:55 PM – 6:25 PM on the Sunset Stage at Meeting and Shuler streets.
Brittany Turnipseed is affectionately known as the “Southern Songbird.” Her performances include a blend of jazz, soul, funk, and old school R&B. She is a frequent performer at West Columbia’s Chayz Lounge.

George Fetner and the Strays will play from 6:40 PM – 8:00 PM on the Sunset Stage at Meeting and Shuler streets.
George Fetner and the Strays features a full horn section and the group will turn the stage into a groove-laden party.

Saturday, Sept. 7, on the WECO Sign Stage at 754 MEETING ST.

The McKoy Brothers Band will play from 3:15 PM – 4:40 PM on the WECO sign Stage at 745 Meeting Street.
The McKoy Brothers Band is a top-level Classic Country and Southern Music Band. Focusing on top level playing on multiple instruments, this group blends classic genres for crowd pleasing and exciting performances.

Willie Wells & The Blue Ridge Mountain Grass will play from 4:55 PM – 6:25 PM on the WECO sign Stage at 745 Meeting Street.
It’s the band of Willie Wells of West Columbia’s Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor. Willie Wells & The Blue Ridge Mountain Grass  is a mix of traditional and contemporary Bluegrass with some new arrangements of old songs as well as a mix of original songs. Their high energy stage show and stage presence keeps the audience engaged and into the music.

Nick Chandler and Delivered will play from  6:40 PM – 8:00 PM on the WECO Sign Stage at 745 Meeting Street.
Nick Chandler and Delivered is a hard driving traditional bluegrass band from Western North Carolina that has been delighting crowds all over the country with their original songs, tight harmonies, and crowd pleasing shows.

Saturday, Sept. 7 on the Savage Craft Ale Works Stage

The Surefires will play Saturday from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM  on the Savage Craft Ale Works Stage, 430 Center Street.
The Sureflies are Jaycie Ward and Brooke Lundy are a harmonious duo performing their own unique acoustic takes on classic songs from yesterday and today.

Saturday, Sept. 7 at WECO Bottle and Biergarten 

WECO Bottle and Biergarten After Party is Saturday from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM at 626 Meeting Street.
The After Party features a seventies soundtrack paired with a sour beer takeover featuring fan favorites and a rare gem or two from the Funkatorium.
