Publix is planning to open a GreenWise Market in Lexington. It will be one of several new locations throughout the South, according to SuperMarket News.

Sized at around 25,000 sq.-ft., GreenWise Markets – similar to Fresh Market or Whole Foods stores- are aimed at customers focused on healthy lifestyles and “foodies” looking to indulge, according to Publix.

GreenWise Markets are owned by the company that owns Publix grocery stores. GreenWise is for more organic and specialty product-oriented shoppers. The first GreenWise opened in Tallahassee, Fla. in October, and the number has grown and expanded to other states since.

Previously Publix announced a GreenWise store  in Mount Pleasant, that is slated to open this summer.

In addition to grocery items, the store will have a bar for drinks. It will offer smoothies, wine,  kombucha (specialty tea) acai bowls, locally roasted coffee and craft beer. GreenWise stores also offer fresh cooked foods, imported cheeses, organic meats, sausage made in-store and seafood. Other items include soaps, bathroom products and natural goods.

The sections of the store include: personal care and health items), specialty foods, prepared foods, deli and beverages.
