Police charge West Columbia man

Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green announced the arrest of John William Rivenbark Jr.,46, of West Columbia, for an incident that occurred at Tractor Supply at 5589 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington.

According to the announcement, officers were dispatched to an alarm at Tractor Supply Company Monday around 10:10 p.m. When the officer arrived on scene, he noticed a pickup truck parked nearby. The officer saw Rivenbark wearing dark clothing, a ski mask and gloves, inside of the locked gated area outside of the store, the announcement read. The officer observed him attempted to steal a kayak by using a pair of bolt cutters. Rivenbark was arrested without incident by officers and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.

Rivenbark was charged with second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. He received a personal recognizance bond of $15,000.
