Plans for “The LAKE” on WZMJ 93.1 revealed by Midlands Media Group reveals
After closing on the purchase of WZMJ 93.1 FM, last week, its owners at Midlands Media Group, LLC insinuated that a new music mix was coming. MMG announced that it will “remake” the LAKE. The Lexington County-based station previously programmed an eclectic mix of 60s and 70s songs.
Keith Stover, managing partner of Midlands Media, said: “We have some amazing lakes in the Midlands. They are a source of pride to the area. There is a lot of good will with listeners about a local station called the LAKE so we wanted to build on that. We have expanded the playlist to ALL-TIME FAVORITES from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. Great songs from the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, John Mellencamp and U2 to Matchbox Twenty, Maroon Five and of course our own Hootie & The Blowfish. We think everyone will love our “feel good” music mix! Look for local personalities to be added very soon!”
Kirk Litton, executive managing partner of Midlands Media, said: “We are excited to provide a local radio product for listeners and advertisers alike looking for a station that is family sensitive and not trying to push the attitude envelope. The new LAKE will be a fun but relaxed vibe that is perfect for the family in the car and the entire office.”
