Plan for 55 homes on Comanche Trail approved on first reading by West Columbia City Council
West Columbia City Council approved first reading of a plan that would allow the development of a nine-acre site at 910 Comanche Trail, near the Saluda River in West Columbia, Tuesday, at its monthly meeting.
The property, upon final approval, would contain 55 single-family homes.
Residents in the area have voiced concerns about a possible housing development being built on the site. But since plans were first announced the number of units proposed for the property has been decreased significantly.
At one time a 90-unit complex of town houses was proposed. But now the the plan is for 55 single-family homes rezoned as a PUD. A PUD is a planned unit development that would give city planners some input in the design. DR Horton would build the homes and there are requirements for stucco siding and other quality stipulations the builder must meet to fulfill the guidelines of city zoning regulations.
