On Thursday, Girls-On-The Run at the West Columbia school donated $750 to Make-A-Wish. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical conditions. It’s the second year in a row Pineview has contributed to Make-A-Wish.

Mary Silverberg, manager of of Make-A-Wish South Carolina’s Youth Programs, said the contribution the Pineview Girls-on-the-Run gave last year helped a girl with a disease that left her without her hair.

“She loved the story of Rapunzel (a beautiful child with long golden hair,) said Silverberg. Make-A-Wish used the money from the Pineview students to treat the girl with the disease to a day as a princess with beautiful hair. Silverberg said Make-A-Wish SC helps three-to-four children a week.

Jamie Allen, a Pineview teacher who works with Girls-On-The-Run, said the Pineview students hold a Hats-on-to-help service project at the school to raise funds. Melanie Yoder, Amy Brant and Kayla Bradford are other Pineview teachers who are Girls-on-the-Run leaders.
