Pine Ridge Middle goes to virtual classes, 3 Lexington 2 schools now remote learning

Students at three Lexington Two schools have moved temporarily from in-person classes to remote learning.

The schools and their periods of remote learning are:

  • Cayce Elementary:  August 27-September 8. Students are tentatively scheduled to return to campus September 9.
  • Northside Middle: August 30-September 9. Students are tentatively scheduled to return to campus September 10.
  • Pine Ridge Middle: August 30-September 9. Students are tentatively scheduled to return to campus September 10.

The decision to move to temporary remote instruction is a result of the impacts of COVID-19 on students, staff and safe school operations, as well as the challenge of securing substitutes. This decision is not only tied to the number of students and staff who are positive, but the number of students and staff who are also quarantined as the district continues to adhere to quarantine procedures.

There will be no athletics, clubs, activities and/or events during these remote learning periods.  These activities will resume when students return to campus for in-person classes.
Free student meals will be available for drive-thru pickup in the traffic loop in front of Riverbank Elementary from 11am-12pm on Monday, August 30; Thursday, September 2; and Tuesday, September 7. Several days of weekday meals will be distributed over each of these three days. Pre-ordering is recommended to ensure that there are enough meals for everyone; find directions at  https://www.lex2.org/apps/news/article/1449376. For additional questions about meals, contact food services at (803) 739-8381.
