There was a heavy law enforcement pressence on Sunset Boulevard, near I-20, in Lexington Monday afternoon. A photo issued by the Lexington Police Department shows an arrest.

The scene developed after a traffic stop in Lexington resulted in a chase by law enforcement personnel. Parts of Sunset and Northside boulevards were partially closed after a pursuit of a fleeing suspect resulted in three separate crashes.

A driver was pulled over by a SCHP Trooper around 11:45 a.m. That driver fled, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The driver was chased to Sunset and Northside boulevards, where he left his vehicle and was on the loose.

Schools in the area were locked down as police searched for the man.
The suspect was eventually arrested after an extensive negotiation with deputies, see photo below. .
