Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher, has identified the individual who died after being struck by a vehicle near the 39 mile marker shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Coroner, Mr. Solomon Emmanuel Gilmore, 24, of Charlotte, NC was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the accident. Mr. Gilmore, whose vehicle had broken down around the 41 mile marker, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle at the exit 39 on-ramp. The driver, who was not injured, remained on scene and notified authorities.  

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
