Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on I-77
A pedestrian has been killed in a hit-and-run collision on I-77, according to the SC Highway Patrol .
As a result of the incident, the SCHP is looking for the driver of the vehicle that left the scene of the crash.
It happened in Richland County just after 6 a.m. at the Mile Marker 8 on I-77, near with Garners Ferry Road, according to Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the SCHP.
The person was walking on I-77 and was hitand killed by a northbound vehicle, Tidwell said.
He also said the person in the vehicle drove away. The make and model are not currently known, according to Tidwell, bu the Highway Patrol said the vehicle might be red with damage to its front end.
The crash caused a bloackage of the interstate Sunday morning blocked for about five hours. All northbound lanes on the I-77 were blocked wer blocked for about an hour, according to the SCDOT.
