Pedestrian dies after being hit on I-20 Sunday night

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing I-20 late Sunday, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred in Richland County about 10:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 near mile marker 65, according to Lance Cpl. David Jones of the SCHP.

According to Jones, a Chevrolet Tahoe was moving west on I-20 when it hit a pedestrian in the middle of the interstate. The pedestrian was trying to cross.  The pedestrian died as a result of the collision.

The driver of the Tahoe was not injured, according to Jones.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the person who was killed.
