Parade of Lights make-up date to be discussed Monday by C-WC Chamber
“We are meeting on Monday to discuss a possible make up date” for the Parade of Lights is the Facebook message delivered by the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
The Parade called off Saturday Safety was severe there was severe weather in Cayce and West Columbia Saturday evening, during the hours that the parade would have been conducted.
West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles said “a lot of families are upset the parade was canceled” as was his.
He also said RADAR showed storms hitting the area.
“Even if we could have finished the parade before the storms,” Miles said, “folks would have been stuck out in the storms after the parade was over.”
The Chamber’s parade “insurance policy for the parade did not allow for it to be rescheduled within 24 hours of a cancellation.” So a Sunday parade was not an option.
Miles also said this upcoming weekend is a possibility.
“We are very hopeful we can have the parade next weekend,” he said. “Please say a prayer and keep your fingers crossed. A lot of folks have worked very hard to make this happen and to prepare floats and performances. I really hope we all get to enjoy it.”
