Only 1 COVID-related death in SC, Sunday
One death is too many, but only one COVID-related death was reported in the state, Sunday, according to the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control.
There were 1,336 new COVID cases and 97 in Lexington County. The recovery rate for COVID is higher than 99 percent for patients under 70 years of age according to the Center for Disease Control. The average age of fatal COVID cases in South Carolina is 78, according to DHEC.
The person who died according to the Sunday report was an elderly patient in Richland County who died Friday.
Statewide there have been 169,228 COVID cases, and 3,687 deaths attributed to COVID by DHEC.
