One shot in home invasion in Cayce
Four suspects attempted a home invasion and one of them was shot by the homeowner on Saturday morning, according to Cayce Police.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The four suspects allegedly entered the residence at Edenwood Apartments, off North Eden Drive and Charleston Highway.
Cayce investigators are trying to find out if it’s related to the large amount of marijuana they found.
The homeowner opened fire at the four and hit one in the upper body. The suspects then got into a vehicle and left the scene and called an ambulance from a nearby parking lot. The wounded person was taken to the hospital.
Police arrived about four minutes after the shooting and interviewed all involved. Those interviewed gave “conflicting statements, ” according to investigators.
Police also said they found a “substantial quantity of marijuana” that may be connected to the home invasion. Police were still talking to witnesses and collecting evidence on Saturday afternoon.
