One Love Mart – in the Heart of the Pocomo Community – is in the Cayce Business Spotlight
The One Love Convenience Store at 1205 Frink Street is a gathering place that is a comfort to the community it serves.

The store is in the Heart of Cayce’s Pocomo Community. Peter Munyeoki, or “Mr. Peter” as he is known, is the owner. He opened the store in 2006.
“Some of the kids who used to come in my store are now adults,” Peter said. “That’s how long I have been here. Over time I have developed a close relationship with the community.”
Julius Felder Street and Burnette Park are close-by areas where One Love customers live. Terron Williams was in One Love Thursday.
“I was his first customer,” Terron said. “And I have been coming in here since the first day he opened.”
Peter thanked Terron for his loyalty and said that most people who come into the store are his friends.
Cayce City Councilman Byron Thomas is another One Love customer. The store is in his district.
“One Love is that warm place where everyone in the neighborhood can gather and visit. The store is a mainstay of Pocomo and Mr. Peter is a great community partner.”

Peter said he has a very good relationship with the City of Cayce. He said everyone with the city’s staff is easy to work with.
There is a mural on the side of One Love. Thomas led the effort to have it painted on the building.
“Residents in the Pocomo Community said they would like to have a mural because there are no murals in this part of town. They wondered why the murals stopped on one side of Frink Street, when there’s so much history and culture in the Pocomo Community,” Thomas said. “It was was always on my mind to find a way to bring a mural across 12th Street. So we worked with ‘Keep the Midlands Beautiful’ to get a mural painted on the wall of One Love. I was so glad to help get it. It helps beautify this community.” Thomas also thanked muralist Jahnna Blyben, for doing “an amazing job” painting the mural.
Thomas also said after the mural was painted volunteer groups, with Keep the Midlands Beautiful, worked to pick up more than 100 pounds of trash to help beautify the area.
Peter said he has enjoyed his years as the One Love owner and a lot has happened in 19 years. His son was age three when the store opened. His son is now a senior at The Citadel. Peter has five children and the youngest is in the seventh grade. Peter, who was born in Kenya and moved to the United States in 1987, said he is a Bob Marley fan and the name of his store comes from the Bob Marley song entitled “One Love.”
