A fatal one-car accident occurred in Lexington County Monday at the intersection of US 302 and Cedar Creek Road.

A 2001 Volkswagen Bug ran off the right side of the road at the intersection and hit a tree. The driver died at the scene, according Lance Corporal David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt according to Jones.

The accident is under investigation by the SCHP.
