As Saturday morning house fire, resulted in a fatality.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Saturday, units from the Lexington County Fire Service responded to a reported residential structure fire located in the 900 block of Jupiter Street, off Platt Springs Road, in the town of Springdale.

Upon arrival, fire and smoke could be seen coming through the roof of the residence. Two of the residents’ three occupants were already outside when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters laid down lines and began operational procedures to extinguish the fire. Upon further investigation of the home, one victim and one dog were found deceased inside of the residence.

Of the two victims found outside of the residence, one was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for smoke inhalation. The other was placed in the care of family members.

The fire is under control at this time.

The Springdale Police Department will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
