One person died and traffic lanes were closed on Charleston Highway Thursday evening, after a collision.

The Cayce Department of Public Safety responded to the accident at the intersection of Old Dunbar Road and Charleston Highway around 6:3o p.m. The accident involved a tandem tractor trailer truck and a Ford pickup truck. The traffic lanes that were closed were opened by 9:45 p.m.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not released the name of the individual who died. There were no other injuries reported in relation to the crash.

The accident occurred during heavy thunderstorms in the area. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The Lexington County EMS and the SC Highway Patrol also responded to the accident, along with the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
