There were no new COVID-related deaths in South Carolina, Tuesday, according to the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control. There were 358 new confirmed cases of COVID reported in the data released Tuesday.

If you want to get vaccinated, Lexington Medical Center is now accepting walk-ins for COVID vaccinations. The vaccine clinics are inside the hospital at 2728 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, or at Brookland Baptist Church at 1066 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia.

There are shots available this week. The clinics are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Pfizer vaccine is available to anyone.

Call 803-739-3363 Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for information.

The current COVID numbers for the state are far lower than numbers released for January. That month held the record for the most deaths in a day (93 on Jan. 15) and the most new cases (6,824 on Jan. 8.)

The number of COVID-related deaths has also decreased in Lexington County.

There were 121 COVID deaths reported to, or investigated by the Lexington County Coroner’s office in January. There were 27 in February, and 18 in March, according to Candace Berry, chief deputy coroner.
