Newest West Columbia restaurants thriving, offering a variety of cuisine
The City of West Columbia has welcomed at least four new restaurants in the last year or so. And those restaurants offer varying types of food, including unique gourmet hot dogs, down-home Southern cooking, and Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.
If you have not tried these restaurants, here’s some information that will motivate you to see what you’re missing.
Greedy Rascals
Greedy Rascals, known as The Hot Dog Bar, opened in September 2025 at 1125 Meeting St, in West Columbia.
Brandon and Shakira Johnson opened the family-oriented hot dog bar adjacent to the Triangle City Fountain and things are going well.
“West Columbia has been great to us,” Brandon said. “The support from the community has been heartwarming. We don’t just add new customers every day, we make new friends. So glad to be here in West Columbia.”
Diners are invited to come in and leave their signature on the wall. And since opening, the Greedy Rascals wall has been filled with signatures.
Menu items at Greedy Rascals include the Quarter Pound Greedy Dog, Slaw Dog, Nacho Dog, Sweet Chili Pepper Dog, Southwest Dog, Seafood Dog, Steak Philly Dog, Taco Dog, Pizza Dog, and the Famous Cake Dog. There’s also the Donut Burger, Veggie Dogs and other burgers.
Greedy Rascals hours are from 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday, and 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Compton’s Restaurant
Compton’s Restaurant opened at 1118 B Avenue in early January. Its owners said their intention is to pay respect to Compton’s Kitchen that was founded in 1977, in the same building. The building has been renovated, with a spacious dining room, by the new owners who describe themselves as an “investment group.”
The lunch menu includes: fried chicken, country fried steak; liver and onions; and fried catfish. Macaroni and cheese, collard greens and squash casserole are also on the menu.
For breakfast there’s eggs, any style, grits, bacon, sausage, hash browns, fried bologna, omelets, pancakes, French toast and biscuits.
Compton’s Restaurant is open Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Breakfast is served all day. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. until the restaurant closes in the afternoon.
Thai Delicacies
Where in West Columbia can you get dishes like Boat Noodles, Krapao Moo (Minced Pork Basil Stir Fry), Spicy Sweet Chili Stir-fry, and Thai Mango shakes?
Memory Paw opened Thai Delicacies at 1213 Sunset Boulevard in June.
The menu features noodle dishes, sushi, stir-fry, soups, and desserts, all prepared with bold Thai flavors, fresh and homemade. The food is authentic, not an Americanized version of Thai food, said Lah Clee, Memory Paw’s niece, who is also Thai Delicacies manager. And she said the community has been responsive.
“Since we opened, we’ve seen more and more people come in,” Lah said. “Once they find out about us, they tell others and we’re getting more people coming in from word-of-mouth referrals. Things are going well. This is a great location.”
Thai Delicacies is open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., offering dine-in and delivery options for lunch and dinner.
Pho & Banh Mi
Pho & Banh Mi Vietnamese opened in a completely remodeled 6,000-sq-ft space in the Westland Square shopping center at 2250 Sunset Boulevard in the summer of 2024.
Owner Nghiep D Nguyen said the restaurant serves the authentic flavors of Vietnam, made with traditional recipes and fresh ingredients.
A Pho & Banh Mi favorite is the Banh Mi sandwich. Banh mi is a baguette with a crisp crust and a soft texture inside. It is filled with meat and other tasty ingredients, and resembles a sub sandwich that is large enough for an entire meal.
Other Pho & Banh Mi menu items can be ordered with chicken, grilled pork, and beef. There is a vegetarian option as well. Noodle soup dishes include an eye of round steak and meatball, along with Special Noodles. Appetizers include egg rolls, steam buns, chicken wings, and cheese fries. They also serve coffee, milk tea, fruit tea, smoothies, and have assorted bakery items. Pho & Banh Mi is open Tuesday–Saturday, 11 a.m. – 8.30 p.m., Friday, 11.30 a.m. – 8.30 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
