Newberry County Man Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Abuse of Minors In Lexington County

The 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office has announced the sentencing of a Newberry County man for sexual abuse of minors.

Trevor Grant Oty, age 22 of Newberry County, pled guilty to two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree, one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in the First Degree, and one count of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor in the First Degree, on Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Lexington County General Sessions Court. The Honorable Debra R. McCaslin sentenced Oty to thirty-five (35) years in prison. Under South Carolina law, Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree is classified as a violent and most serious offense. Oty will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

This case was prosecuted by Eleventh Circuit Assistant Solicitors Whitney Taylor and Christy Oler. This case was investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

On July 9, 2024, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigated a report that Oty had assaulted a minor victim in Lexington County. After an extensive investigation, additional minor victims were identified. It was determined that Oty concocted a scheme to coerce victims into engaging in sexual activity, which was carried out over the course of several months.

Oty has been transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.
