New Year’s Eve is Sunday and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is reminding residents that there is a new fireworks ordinance in Lexington County.
Here are some things you should know:

• There are time limits and restrictions on fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Lexington County. Fireworks cannot be shot after 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.
• If deputies see someone shooting any fireworks after 12:30 a.m., that person could receive a noise ordinance violation ticket, which carries a fine of $150.
• Please be considerate to your neighbors (and their pets) as you ring in 2024. There are many with pets and personal considerations to be mindful of as you celebrate.
