New faces on Lexington County Council, and some runoffs

According to raw numbers in the Lexington County Republican primary Tuesday, there will be someVote runoffs, and some new faces on County Council.

In County Council District 1: Scotty Whetstone defeated incumbent Jim Kinard. Dist. 1 covers Gaston, Swansea and Pelion.

In County Council District 3: Darrell Hudson and Brad Matthews it looks like are headed for a June 28 runoff. Incumbent Kent Collins and challenger Colin Thain are out of the running. Dist. 3 covers Lexington and parts of Lake Murray.

In County Council District 4: Incumbent Deb Summers easily won over challenger Gene Wilbur. Dist 4 covers Springdale, Oak Grove and Lexington.

In County Council District 5: Incumbent Bobby Keisler defeated Brian Duncan by less than 40 votes.  Dist. 5 covers Red Bank and South Congaree.

Vote-button-iCouncil Council District 6: Dino Teppara and Erin Long Bergeson are in a June 28 runoff. Dist 6 covers Irmo, Chapin and Lexington. Ronald Derrick and Benjamin Stitely were two other challengers in that race. Johnny Jeffcoat, the incumbent, did not run.

In the Lexington County Clerk of Court race: Lisa Comer and Emily Hinson will be in the June 28, runoff. Mollie Taylor was also a challenger.

In the Lexington County Coroner’s race: Incumbent Margaret Fisher defeated Glenn Ross.

In the Lexington County Register of deeds race: Tina Guerry and Rich Bolen will be in a runoff. Other challengers were Mike Green, Dan Gregory and Joyce Munsch.

There will be a runoff election to see who will replace retiring 11th circuit solicitor Donnie Myers. Rick Hubbard fell short of 50% in the Tuesday’s GOP Primary. Candice Lively was second to Hubbard. The runoff election is June 28.
State Sen. Katrina Shealy got more than 50 in the GOP primary to hold her seat. Rep. Rick Quinn won his primary too.
