National Weather Service confirms that a Tornado touched down in Lexington County

A National Weather Service storm survey team has confirmed that an EF-1 Tornado touched down in Lexington County near Chapin during Monday night’s severe weather. It touched down near Lake Tide Drive on the north side of Lake Murray. It’s estimated the storm had peaks winds of 95 miles an hour. The tornado was about 200 yards wide and traveled a 6.17 mile long path, according to the NWS. It was formed for about six minutes, beginning at 8:43 p.m. It is the second tornado in Lexington County this year.
