Music and food will be featured at State Street party welcoming new businesses on Friday

The vibrant River District of West Columbia is set to welcome two exciting new businesses with a grand double ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Cayce West Columbia Chamber. On Friday, Aug. 23, the community will come together to celebrate the opening of Steven Whetstone Fine Art located at 324 State Street and Garden & Relic located at 310 State Street, marking a significant addition to the local business landscape.

The festivities will commence at 4:30 PM with the official ribbon cutting, followed by a
lively block party. Attendees can look forward to a variety of attractions, including
delicious offerings from Tacos Oink Oink food truck, refreshing beverages from Twist
Bartending, and energetic live music by The Runout. The event will also feature premium
cigars from Stoney Creek Cigars South, the savory treat of Sheldon Fickling Boiled
Peanuts, and free e-bike test drives courtesy of Pedego Electric Bikes.

Steven Whetstone is a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School and a former Baseball
Player who graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BFA in Art Studio in 2002.

He expressed his enthusiasm for the occasion: “Being able to have my own studio
and gallery in my hometown and to bring Fine Arts to West Columbia means a lot. I’m
fulfilling a lifelong dream of mine since I was a child and it’s finally happening. I’m really
excited to be a part of the River District and surrounding communities of Cayce and
West Columbia. I’m looking forward to all the great things in store.”

Jay White, owner of Garden & Relic and The Warehouse, shared his excitement about
the new venture: “Opening Garden & Relic in West Columbia has been a dream come
true. The support and camaraderie within this community are unmatched, making it an
ideal place for our new business to grow and flourish. We look forward to contributing to
the unique charm that makes the River District so special.”

With an expected large turnout, this event is poised to be a memorable celebration of
community spirit and local entrepreneurship. Join us for an afternoon of fun, food,
