Murray’s Neighborhood Grill – a friend to the Cayce Community – is in the Business Spotlight
Murray’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar is Cayce’s go-to spot for great food, cold beer, and a fun atmosphere. It opened in the Edenwood Plaza Shopping Center, 2433 Charleston Hwy, in 1992.
How has Murray’s thrived for such a long period of time?

“We have a great relationship with this community,” said Kenneth “Mac” McKinley, Murray’s owner. “We get great support from everyone around us. And we have a great relationship with the City of Cayce, too.”
Mac went to work at Murray’s right after it opened in 1992. “At the time, David Murray was the owner,” Mac said. “After about 20 years David retired and I bought Murray’s from him.”
Cayce City Councilman Phil Carter said his association with Murray’s goes back to David and Linda Murray. He said they provided a service to the City of Cayce by offering a great restaurant that had a neighborhood feel with great food.
My wife Debra and I, and my family and friends love Murrays’ and the job Mac has done with it,” he said. “We have been eating there for more than 25 years.”
Mac said Murray’s started out as a neighborhood establishment to play pool. At one time, there were close to a dozen pool tables in Murray’s, but it has evolved. “There are a couple of pool tables, but now it’s all about the food,” Mac said.

Over the years, Mac said he has seen three generations come through the doors of Murray’s. “We’ve been around long enough, I’ve served the grandparents, the parents and now their kids,” he said.
Michelle Goins Cox is a teacher of the Target program which serves 18-21-year-olds with special needs at Cayce’s New Bridge Academy. It’s less than a mile away from Murray’s.
“Mac was there when I worked at Murray’s, when I was a senior in high school, right after I turned 18,” she said. “It was a great family restaurant when I was there. I gained a lot of experience and I learned a lot about people from my job there.”

Michelle said Murray’s has continued to be a friend to New Bridge and its students.
Mac is always willing to give our kids a shot with employment,” Michelle said. “That’s been amazing. He’s hired two of our kids and one still currently works there.”
Mac had high praise for all of his employees. “We have a loyal staff here at Murray’s,” he said. “Many of them have been here for a long time.”
Brandi Campbell is the General Administrative Manager for Murray’s. She started on the wait staff. She has been at Murray’s for 20 years.
“I love working here,” she said. “The atmosphere is great and I love the customers and the people I work with.”
