Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died after a motorcycle accident in the 300 block of Bush Berry Road in Pelion shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Robert Joe McDaniel III, 38, of Gaston was traveling eastbound on Bush Berry Road when he collided with a vehicle who was traveling westbound attempting to turn into a private drive. Mr. McDaniel, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of accident, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on scene.

The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
