Moped rider killed in front of school, coroner identifies

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a vehicle collision that occurred on Old Orangeburg Road, in front Saxe Gotha Elementary School, at approximately 6:45 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Fisher, Mr. Scott Andrew Woodruff, 33, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained.

Mr. Woodruff, who was operating a moped, was traveling west when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle as it attempted to turn left. The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries and stopped immediately to render aid. The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
