Mike Green wins West Columbia City Council District 1 seat
Mike Green won a special election for the West Columbia City Council District 1 seat, Tuesday. He defeated Sandra Harley.
With the absentee ballots included, Green had 136 votes and Harley had 96 votes.
“I am grateful to the voters of West Columbia for their overwhelming vote of confidence,” said Green. “I look forward to serving my neighbors in the community for the next few years. Together we will build a coalition to address the needs of Wilton Road.”
Harley is the widow of Dale Harley who held the District 1 seat until his death in March. Green was elected to finish Harley’s term, that ends in November.
“The people have spoken and I am fine with the result,” said Harley. “I ran on integrity. I didn’t make promises I could not keep.”
